Thinking Green on the Soccer Field
Green thinking or doing things that protect the earth is becoming not only a trend, but is becoming imperative in protecting our society and cutting down carbon emissions globally. As a soccer mom or parent, there are many things that you can do to cut down the carbon footprints and other dangerous aspects of your life to save the earth and leave a legacy of recycling and green consciences for your children.
The first thing you can do is probably doing what you are doing already, carpooling. If not, start. Not only can it save you money, but it also can give you some time to spend on other activities. Not only does carpooling help the environment, it will bring the players of the soccer league closer.
When you bring snacks, make sure the kids throw away the recycles in the proper container. For example, bring a bag for paper and another for plastic. You should bring a third for unrecyclable garbage such as food waste and others. During the game some soccer moms sit in their cars for air conditioning and heat. This is not a green activity. It maybe will be a little uncomfortable for you to be out in the weather, but your kid is there and you should be there also. Not only is it the green thing to do, it will give you child more self-esteem and support during the game. It is not easy being green, as Kermit the Frog once said, but it is important for you, your children, and the planet.
